General election 2024 – your green party Candidates

Tony Mabbott – rotherham

I am a local campaigner standing to become your MP. I live in Rotherham, have been a union organiser and an advice worker, and have seen at first hand the damage caused to those left behind by this Tory Government.

I know that only a strong Green voice offers the change we all need. I will fight to protect our NHS, for cleaner rivers, and to ensure everyone in Rotherham gets a fair deal from the government.

Paul Martin – rother valley

I come from Wales Bar (near Kiveton) where I’ve lived for over 20 years. I’m married with two children. Being an adoptive dad led me into my career as a residential care worker for children in the care system. In my job I’m the Trauma Informed Lead for our Home. This is something I’m passionate about. I want vulnerable children to feel loved and valued and to have the opportunity to succeed, that is what every child deserves.

I’ve been councillor in Rother Valley for over 15 years, and I love serving the local community. I’m also a volunteer with local football club, Swallownest FC, as well as being a fan of the Sheffield Eagles Rugby League Club.

tom hill – rawmarsh & conisbrough

I am not what the mainstream media claims a Green is. I am the son of a steelworker father and Union rep mother, and the grandson of a pit worker, and a busdriver. I’m the product of fine working class stock, and proud of it.  I joined the Green Party in 2016 after going through a difficult time at work and I was impressed by the Green’s commitment to workers rights. Additionally, I recognised that they were the only party taking a common sense approach to politics by putting science forward.

Currently I am sitting a second term on Wentworth Parish Council for Harley Ward. During my first term on the council I was tasked with starting the rollout of new benches in the parish, many of which can now be seen throughout. I have also worked as a directly elected Mature Student’s Officer at Sheffield Student Union. In this position I increased Mature Student involvement in Student Union elections by 80% thus bringing a voice to student politics that has real world experience.

By having a Green Party candidate on the ballot paper, voters are given the opportunity to vote Green.

Simply standing as a candidate requires a £500 deposit.
